Feats and Eats 2/19

I didn't post last week due to birthday festivities and then the week just got away from me...

I'm trying something new this week- I joined the gym down the street.  I'll be going in the mornings for cardio.  I haven't been a member at a gym in years and years so I think it will be pretty interesting.  I forgot how much planning goes into getting to the gym in the mornings!  I made a to-do list that mostly consists of packing things up the day before like my breakfast/lunch/clothes etc.  It will definitely be a change!

Scott gave me some help with the week's meal plan.

I think I'm going to keep Sunday open.

Feats and Eats 2/5

bleh.  Last week sure was a doozy...  I kind of dropped the ball on everything...  Workouts were skipped, meals were eaten out, IPAs were drunk etc.  That being said, I did attend a meeting of the Austin Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics when I really wanted to skip it.  One of my 2012 goals is to be more active in the group and I figured attending the first meeting would be a good way to kick that off.  Success!

Saturday I co-hosted my friends Spencer and Leanora's wedding shower.  I had a ton of prep stuff to do this week which included stuffing the favor bags with cinnamon and blue raspberry salt water taffy.  Let me just say that no less than one million pieces of candy made it into my mouth...  The party was also a success and we had a really good time both at the party and then the after party at our place.  It was a day of no exercise (unless you count just dance 3 on the kinect), bbq, beer, desserts, late night homemade pizza, more beer, 1 AM coffee and some more beer.  But it was fun and today is a new day.

I need to buckle down and focus on my exercise this week.  After taking pretty much the entire last week off I want to make sure I'm really dedicating myself to accomplishing my workouts.  I'm not sure when I'm working out with Rachel this week but I'm sure it will be brutal!

This is also my last week of being 31.  Yep, my birthday is next Sunday so I want to make my last week of year 31 a great one!  Growing up I always hated having my birthday in February- I lusted after luau-themed pool parties like it was nobody's business.  As I grew older my fall-back birthday celebration was always a house party.  The last few years I have not felt quite the excitement as I once did about turning another year older.  I still don't really know what I want to do and the weather isn't cooperating- a high of 56 and 20% chance of rain.  I've thought about taking a drive out to nearby Driftwood for either some BBQ action (but I just had BBQ!) or to one of the wineries out there.  I guess I'm leaning towards winery since it will be inside and maybe the crowds will stay home due to the rain...  Either way, I want to do something during the day.  Then I'll celebrate with my folks on Sunday and maybe Scott's family this coming Friday.

Monday:
     B: mango banana smoothie
     S: snap peas
L: chicken sandwich with potato salad
     D: grilled shrimp taco salads
W: run block, abs and weights- try bakasana again

Tuesday:
     B: english muffin egg sandwich
     S: apple
L: big salad with leftover shrimp
D: basil gnocchi with mushroom ragu and broccoli
W: run block, bosu workout, abs

Wednesday:
     B: mango banana smoothie
     S: snap peas
L: big salad with hard boiled egg, pistachios and dried cranberries
D: mediterranean tofu pockets with zucchini
     W: run block, abs, kickboxing

Thursday:
     AMW:
     B: apple cinnamon oatmeal
     S: snap peas
     L: salad and leftovers
     D: veggie stir fry
     W: run block, abs, barbell

Friday:
AMW: run block, abs, kickboxing- gotta do it in the morning!
     B: english muffin egg sandwich
     S: apple
     L: out to lunch
D: soup and sandwiches or out with Scott's family for dinner to celebrate my birthday

Saturday:
     B: cereal or smoothie
     L: TBD
D: probably keep it light after the shower
W: morning yoga with Rachel out at Fiesta Gardens

Sunday:
birthday celebration!  My brother and I have birthdays two days apart so we always celebrate together.  Not sure if we will have something at Mom and Dad's or go out for lunch.  I hope just lunch at the house but we'll see what Jeff wants.
